Sri Lanka’s tourism industry has continued its strong upward momentum in 2026, with total tourist arrivals surpassing the 950,000 mark by 17 May 2026.
According to the latest figures, total arrivals reached 951,742 during the period, while 75,465 visitors were recorded within the first 17 days of May alone.
India remained the leading source market for Sri Lanka tourism with 221,953 arrivals, followed by the United Kingdom with 92,925 visitors. Russia ranked third with 75,569 arrivals, while China and Germany recorded 64,201 and 61,770 visitors respectively.
Meanwhile, Switzerland emerged among the notable European markets, ranking 15th with 13,580 tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka so far this year.
