The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) recently hosted Mr. Bimal Aponso, son of the late Mr. Milton Aponso, former Director of the Department of Civil Aviation (1971–1975). A veteran in aeronautical systems, Mr. Bimal Aponso brings nearly 40 years of experience in aviation research and innovation, including pioneering work with NASA, and currently serves as Chief Scientific and Technical Advisor for Dynamic Systems at the FAA, USA.
During his visit, CAASL staff engaged with him on his distinguished career, insights into future aviation innovations, and his reflections on his father’s leadership, particularly following the Martinair crash in 1974.
