Rylee’s Aero Models Secures Sri Lanka’s First Model Airplane Manufacturing Licence from CAASL

Young entrepreneur Rasantha Nimalsiri aims to take Sri Lankan model aviation to the global stage under the ‘Made in Sri Lanka’ identity.

Rylee’s Aero Models has reached a significant milestone in Sri Lanka’s aviation and manufacturing sectors by obtaining the country’s first model airplane manufacturing licence from the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL).

Founded and led by young Sri Lankan entrepreneur Rasantha Nimalsiri, the company aims to establish a distinctive Sri Lankan presence in the international model aviation industry by showcasing local creativity, innovation and manufacturing capabilities.

Driven by a passion for aviation and engineering, Rylee’s Aero Models seeks to go beyond manufacturing model aircraft by inspiring children and young people to explore aviation, develop science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) skills, and discover opportunities in aerospace-related fields.

The company’s vision centres on bringing the ‘Made in Sri Lanka’ identity to the global model aviation market, demonstrating the potential of Sri Lankan talent to develop products and brands with international ambitions.

The achievement marks an important step for local model aircraft manufacturing and highlights the entrepreneurial potential within Sri Lanka’s aviation community. It also reflects a broader ambition to encourage the next generation of engineers, designers, inventors and aviation professionals.

With its focus on innovation, youth inspiration and international growth, Rylee’s Aero Models aims to position Sri Lanka on the global model aviation map while building a homegrown brand that proudly represents the country beyond its borders.
