Sri Lanka’s aviation landscape is set to expand further in 2026, with three new international airlines expected to launch scheduled passenger services to Colombo, strengthening connectivity with key global markets.
China’s Beijing Capital Airlines is scheduled to commence operations to Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) from January 2026, enhancing air links between Sri Lanka and mainland China.
From Southeast Asia, Malaysia’s Batik Air is expected to begin scheduled flights in late March 2026, further boosting regional connectivity and travel options for passengers.
Adding long-haul capacity, Australia’s low-cost carrier Jetstar Airways is set to launch services to Colombo from August 2026, marking a significant development in Sri Lanka-Australia air links.
These additions reflect growing international confidence in Sri Lanka as a destination and are expected to support tourism growth, trade and broader economic activity in the years ahead.
