Jetstar Airways is exploring opportunities to further expand its operations in Sri Lanka following the launch of direct Melbourne-Colombo services.
A senior Jetstar delegation met with Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation Anura Karunatilaka to discuss passenger demand, increasing flight frequencies and future expansion. Officials also discussed the possibility of Jetstar operating future services to Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA).
Jetstar currently operates three direct flights per week between Melbourne and Colombo, with strong passenger demand reported since the service began.
The discussions also highlighted the role of Jetstar’s operations in supporting Sri Lanka’s tourism sector and strengthening air connectivity between Sri Lanka, Australia and New Zealand. Sri Lankan aviation authorities reaffirmed their commitment to facilitating the safe and sustainable expansion of international airline operations.
