Sri Lanka Welcomes Three New Airlines Within 10 Days as 2026 Year-End Travel Season Begins – Deputy Minister

Sri Lanka has welcomed three new airlines within a 10-day period in August, marking a positive start to the country’s year-end travel season, according to Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakku, Deputy Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation.

Vietnam Airlines began services to Sri Lanka on August 16, followed by VietJet Air on August 18, while Australia’s Jetstar launched its services on August 25.

The Deputy Minister said the new services are expected to strengthen Sri Lanka’s international air connectivity and support the tourism industry during the upcoming peak travel season. Sri Lanka has also recently surpassed 1.5 million tourist arrivals in 2026.

He added that several other international airlines are also planning to commence services to Sri Lanka in the coming months, further expanding the country’s global air connectivity and creating new opportunities for tourism.
