China Eastern Airlines will launch the world’s longest direct commercial route on 4th December 2025, connecting Shanghai and Buenos Aires with a stop in Auckland, New Zealand. The route will operate twice a week and will be served by a Boeing 777-300 wide-body aircraft.
Departing from Shanghai, passengers will embark on a 25.5-hour journey, including a two-hour stop in Auckland, while the return flight from Buenos Aires will take 29 hours. Though promoted as the longest direct flight, the world’s longest nonstop flight remains Singapore Airlines’ Singapore-New York route, covering 15,349 km in over 18 hours.

China Eastern’s new route stands out by connecting two antipodal cities on opposite sides of the world, offering travelers a unique ultra-longhaul experience while bridging Asia and South America.
