A Red Wings Airlines flight from Russia arrived at Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA) yesterday (26) with only 38 passengers, despite a capacity of 411, prompting the suspension of direct flights from Ufa, Russia.
According to a statement posted on Facebook by former Ambassador Udayanga Weeratunga, eight more flights are scheduled to be canceled in February, raising concerns over declining tourist arrivals and the future of the airport’s operations.
