A delegation from Uzbekistan recently held discussions with Sri Lanka’s aviation authorities regarding the introduction of direct air services between Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka.
The meeting, hosted by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL), focused on enhancing air connectivity between the two countries, with expectations that the proposed services could support tourism growth, strengthen trade links, and promote greater people-to-people exchanges.
The Uzbekistan delegation was led by Mr. Adil Miraza Khalmirzaev, Head of the Agents Department at Centrum Air, with Mr. Clive Shamal Fernando, Head of Network Planning of Centrum Air, also attending. From CAASL, participants included Mr. Rayhan Wanniappa (Deputy Director General, Air Transport & Security Regulation), Capt. Lasantha Dahanayake (Deputy Director General, Flight Safety Regulation), and Mr. Asanga Liyanaarachchi (Director, Air Transport & Economic Regulation), Dr. Sumith De Silva, Head of Corporate Communication, represented AASL.
