Fits Air Becomes First Sri Lankan Airline to Operate from Velana International Airport’s Terminal 1

Fits Air has successfully transitioned its operations to Velana International Airport’s Terminal 1, becoming the first Sri Lankan airline to relocate to the new passenger terminal. The move was marked by an official ceremony attended by senior aviation officials, including Ibrahim Shareef Mohammed, CEO of Maldives Airports Company Limited, and Fits Air representatives Anah Kassim and Ibrahim Ameen Hassan Manik.

The inaugural operations included dedicated check-in counters, a ceremonial water salute for departing flights, and cultural performances welcoming inbound passengers. Fits Air, Sri Lanka’s largest private airline, operates three weekly flights between Colombo and Male, enhancing regional connectivity for both business and leisure travelers.

With Fits Air joining Terminal 1 alongside Maldivian, Air Arabia, and Beond, the terminal now accommodates a diverse range of airlines, reinforcing its role as a flexible and growing regional aviation hub.
