Two New Deputy Ministers Appointed to Strengthen the Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation

Two new deputy ministers have been appointed to the Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation, which is currently headed by Minister Bimal Rathnayake.

On the afternoon of November 22, 2024, Engineer Janith Ruwan Kodithuwakku assumed the role of Deputy Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation, while Dr. Prasanna Kumara Gunasekara took office as the Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways. Both deputy ministers were officially sworn in by Minister Bimal Rathnayake.

Both newly appointed deputy ministers expressed their belief that by working together sincerely, collaboratively, and with greater transparency, they could elevate the ministry. Addressing the gathering, Minister Bimal Rathnayake assured the new deputies of his full support, guidance, and blessings. He emphasized that with the support of the entire staff, the ministry could become a leading institution providing optimal services to the public.

The occasion, held at the premises of the Ministry of Ports, was attended by Professor Kapila C.K. Perera, Secretary to the Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation, senior officials of the ministry, and senior officials from institutions under the ministry.
