Sri Lanka’s tourism earnings rise 12.1% in June 2025, surpassing $1.7 billion in first half of the year

Sri Lanka earned $169.5 million from tourism in June 2025, up 12.1% from the same month last year. Total revenue for the first half of 2025 reached $1.71 billion, a 10% increase year-on-year. Tourist arrivals also rose by 15.6% to 1.17 million in the same period. The country aims to attract 3 million visitors and earn $5 billion in 2025, after falling short of similar targets in 2024. The growth reflects the sector’s steady recovery following multiple crises since 2019.
