The inaugural Sri Lanka Aviation Forum, organized by Aviation Voice, took place at the Hilton Hotel, Colombo, bringing together industry leaders to discuss the country’s role in the global aviation landscape.
In the first panel discussion themed “The Global Aviation Landscape and Sri Lanka’s Strategic Position,” Mr. Sampath Ranaweera, President of Ceylon Aeronautical Services (CAS) – Sri Lanka’s premier Aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) – emphasized the significant global contributions of Sri Lankan aviation professionals.
Mr. Ranaweera highlighted several notable industry leaders of Sri Lankan origin:
Mr. A.U.M. Fawzy, CEO of Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA), the world’s largest seaplane operator, Mr. Yasaratne Dissanayake, Founder & CEO of AeroKnow SIA, the first EASA-approved aircraft design company in Latvia, which also operates a Colombo-based back office with over 40 design engineers, Mr. Manoj Bogoda, CEO of UUDS AERO, one of the leading aircraft interior companies in the UAE.
He stressed that by developing Sri Lanka’s aviation sector, the country could leverage the support of such global leaders while building stronger partnerships with giants in the international aviation market.
