Sri Lanka’s tourism sector has made a strong start to 2026, recording over 223,645 tourist arrivals within the first 25 days of January, according to figures released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
India emerged as the leading source market, contributing 41,603 visitors, followed by Russia and the United Kingdom as the second and third largest markets.
In comparison, January 2025 marked a historic milestone for the industry, with 252,761 arrivals, the highest ever recorded for the month, highlighting the sector’s continued growth momentum.
