Sri Lanka’s tourism industry ended 2024 on a high note, welcoming over 2.05 million visitors. December alone recorded 248,592 arrivals, marking an 18.18% increase from the previous year and the highest monthly performance of 2024.
India remained the top source market, contributing 416,974 tourists (20.3% of total arrivals). Other key markets included the Russian Federation (201,920), the UK (178,339), Germany (136,084), and China (131,681). This growth highlights Sri Lanka’s resurgence as a popular global travel destination.
