Sri Lanka and Kenya have taken steps to deepen aviation cooperation following a meeting between Acting High Commissioner to Kenya Ruvini De Silva and Kenya Airways Acting Group Managing Director and CEO George Kamal.
The discussions focused on expanding aviation connectivity and exploring long-term collaboration between Kenya Airways and SriLankan Airlines. Key areas of cooperation included passenger and cargo operations, airline catering, aviation medicine, technical collaboration, and knowledge sharing to support increased trade and tourism between the two countries.
Both sides also discussed the possibility of renewing the Air Services Agreement between Sri Lanka and Kenya to facilitate enhanced air connectivity and strengthen bilateral economic ties.
In addition, the Acting High Commissioner invited Kenya Airways to partner with Sri Lanka Expo 2027 by offering attractive travel packages and promotional fares for delegates travelling from Kenya and the wider East African region to Colombo.
The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to advancing mutually beneficial partnerships that strengthen aviation connectivity and broader economic cooperation.
