Singapore breaks ground on Changi Airport Terminal 5 to boost capacity to 140 million

Changi Airport has officially commenced construction on its highly anticipated Terminal 5. The new terminal expansion, launched by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, will be located on Changi East and span 1,080 hectares. Designed to handle 50 million passengers annually, T5 will boost the airport’s total capacity to approximately 140 million, a significant increase from the current 90 million.

This expansion comes as Changi Airport recorded a record 68.4 million passenger movements in the year ending 31st March 2025. Now connecting to 170 cities with over 7,200 weekly flights from nearly 100 airlines, Changi ranks as the world’s fourth busiest international air hub.

Terminal 5 will feature clean energy solutions, including rooftop solar panels, aligning with Changi’s sustainability goals.
