A Lufthansa Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner sustained significant damage after its nose landing gear collapsed while parked at a gate at Frankfurt Airport on Thursday.
The aircraft, registered D-ABPQ, was being prepared to operate Lufthansa flight LH450 when the incident occurred. Images from the scene show the aircraft’s nose resting on the ground following the unexpected gear failure.
No injuries have been reported. However, the aircraft has been taken out of service for a detailed inspection and damage assessment.
As a result of the incident, Lufthansa cancelled flight LH450, while maintenance teams and investigators work to determine the cause of the nose gear collapse. The event is expected to cause operational disruptions and delays as the airline evaluates the extent of the damage.
