Sri Lanka’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has revealed that an agreement has been reached with Bhutan to establish direct air connectivity between the two nations.
Speaking to The Sunday Morning Business, CAA Director General and CEO Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Sagara Kotakadeniya confirmed that while Bhutan has agreed in principle, they have not yet made a firm commitment on whether their national carriers, Drukair (Royal Bhutan Airlines) or Bhutan Airlines, will commence operations to Sri Lanka.
“We are hopeful that both Drukair and Bhutan Airlines will begin flights to Sri Lanka, but nothing is confirmed yet,” Kotakadeniya stated.
If finalized, this move would strengthen tourism and connectivity between Bhutan and Sri Lanka, opening up new opportunities for travelers and businesses alike.
