Air India’s Cabin and Cockpit Crew takes on a new transformation

A phase of Air India’s effort to be rebranded as a world class carrier has been completed by revealing it’s new cabin crew and pilot uniforms.

These uniforms were designed by Manish Malhotra, who is an Indian Celebrity couturier. Malhotra expresses his honour to be a part of this project, and declares that his aim was to capture the essence of India’s diverse cultures while embodying a modernized look. He further states these uniforms does not only make the crew feel proud but also represents the warmth and hospitality which is India known for. The attires contain ombré sarees which consists of vibrant colours of Deep red, Burgundy, Aubergine and accents of Gold.

These colours were selected inorder to pay homage to India’s rich cultural heritage. The senior female Cabin crew were offered Aubergine sarees inorder to symbolize the authority and sophistication meanwhile the junior female Cabin crew were offered Red, inorder to symbolize youthfulness. Male cabin crews are given black brogues. Apart from the Cabin crew, the cockpit crew were also offered a classical suit inorder to represent professionalism. The new uniforms will be introduced in phases over next few months with the arrival of Air India’s first Airbus A350 into service.
