Airport and Aviation Services Limited (AASL) Chairman Athula Galkatiya has interdicted 28 leaders who held high positions in the Joint Trade Union Alliance in the Katunayake Airport from noon yesterday.
The President of the Trade Union Alliance is also among them.
Joint Trade Union of Airports President Dhammika Fernando said that the employees of all the international airports, domestic airports and the Piduruthalagala Radar station have joined the Trade Union alliance.
The Airport and Aviation Company Chairman stated that the secretary of this trade union has sent letters with the aim of blocking and disrupting all air services that have flight connections with Sri Lanka.
Stating that they have no legal and moral right to take such a step, the chairman has sent them on compulsory leave with immediate effect to conduct a formal investigation into this misconduct.
The union leaders have been informed to hand over the airport entry permits and all equipment they used to their department heads.
They have also been banned from entering any premises of the Airport and Aviation Services Company Limited until these investigations are completed.
