Sri Lanka Customs has detained 39 drones brought into the country by Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Nalin Bandara Jayamaha upon his return from Singapore, pending the submission of required approvals.
Customs Spokesperson Chandana Punchihewa said the drones were detained as the necessary regulatory clearances had not been submitted.
He said the MP had been instructed to obtain and submit approvals from the Department of Import and Export Control, the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) and the Ministry of Defence (MoD).
According to the Customs Spokesperson, all 39 drones will remain in Customs custody until the required documentation is submitted (Newswire)
