Switzerland’s leisure airline Edelweiss Air is set to resume its seasonal winter services to Sri Lanka, with the first flight of the season scheduled to depart from Zurich today, 26 October 2026 and arrive in Colombo on the morning of 27 October. The resumption comes with an increase in flight frequency, strengthening air connectivity between Switzerland and Sri Lanka and supporting the country’s tourism industry.
The seasonal services will operate through May 2027, with flights from Zurich to Colombo (LX 8064) scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Return flights from Colombo to Zurich (LX 8065) will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Edelweiss Air has increased its service frequency from two to three flights per week in response to demand, providing travellers with more options to visit Sri Lanka during the winter travel season.
Switzerland remains an important source market for Sri Lanka’s tourism industry. In 2025, the country contributed 33,624 tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka, compared with 29,829 arrivals in 2024, placing Switzerland among Sri Lanka’s top 20 source markets in both years.
The increased frequency is expected to provide additional capacity for Swiss travellers visiting Sri Lanka and further strengthen air connectivity between the two countries during the 2026/27 winter season.
