Ceylon Aeronautical Services (CAS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Malaysia-based Subang MRO to develop business jet maintenance capabilities at Ratmalana Airport (RMA), Colombo.
The partnership will bring Subang MRO’s international experience in business jet maintenance, technical expertise and regulatory approvals, including its FAA approval, to Sri Lanka.
Based at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang, Malaysia, Subang MRO provides MRO services for aircraft from Textron, Gulfstream, Boeing, Piaggio and Challenger, as well as engines and propellers from various OEMs.
CAS President Sampath Ranaweera said the partnership is closely aligned with the Sri Lankan Government’s vision to further develop the country’s aviation industry. “We believe Ratmalana Airport is ideally positioned to develop business aviation and attract regional business jet activity to Sri Lanka,” he said.
The partnership is expected to create opportunities for new investment, technical knowledge transfer and skilled employment, while generating foreign revenue and helping position Sri Lanka as a regional hub for business aviation services.
