Emirates Airlines and Boeing have held initial discussions with the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) on the potential introduction of the Boeing B777-9 on Emirates services to Sri Lanka.
Representatives from Boeing and Emirates met with Captain Daminda Rambukwella, Director General of Civil Aviation & CEO on Monday (14), with CAASL officials also attending.
Discussions focused on the regulatory, airworthiness, airport and operational requirements for accommodating the next-generation wide-body aircraft.
CAASL expressed its positive intention to facilitate B777-9 operations in Sri Lanka, subject to all applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
The potential introduction of the 777-9 would further enhance Sri Lanka’s capability to accommodate next-generation aircraft and strengthen international air connectivity.
