SriLankan Airlines emerged as the leading international carrier to the Maldives in May 2026, according to the latest data released by the Maldives Ministry of Tourism.
The airline carried approximately 18,700 international passengers into the Maldives while operating 19 weekly services, making it the busiest airline by inbound passenger volume during the month.
The achievement highlights SriLankan Airlines’ strategic role as a regional connector through its Colombo hub, providing seamless connections for travellers from South Asia, Europe, Southeast Asia & selected Middle Eastern markets en route to Malé.
India’s IndiGo ranked second with around 25 weekly flights, while Emirates secured third place after carrying approximately 16,000 passengers on 19 weekly services. Monthly data also showed changing leadership throughout 2026, with Emirates leading in February, Aeroflot in March, Singapore Airlines in April & SriLankan Airlines taking the top spot in May.
