Sri Lanka’s tourism industry has achieved another major milestone, with international tourist arrivals surpassing the one million mark before the end of May 2026 for the second consecutive year.
Continuing the strong momentum seen in the record-breaking year of 2025, the steady growth in visitor numbers highlights the country’s rising popularity as a global travel destination.
India remained the leading source market for Sri Lanka tourism in 2026, contributing more than 200,000 visitors so far this year. The United Kingdom, Russia, China, and Germany secured the next top positions among the country’s leading tourist source markets.
