Vietjet Air to Launch Colombo – Ho Chi Minh City Flights from August 2026

Vietjet Air, Vietnamese new-age hybrid airline has announced the launch of its first-ever direct service between Colombo and Ho Chi Minh City, marking a major step in strengthening air connectivity and cooperation between Sri Lanka and Vietnam.
 
The announcement was made during the Sri Lanka – Vietnam Trade, Investment and Tourism Cooperation Forum held in the presence of Vietnamese President To Lam, Sri Lankan Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, and senior officials from both countries.
 
The new Colombo – Ho Chi Minh City route is scheduled to commence in August 2026 with four weekly round-trip flights. The service will provide Sri Lankan travelers with direct access to Vietnam’s commercial hub while also offering seamless connections to Vietjet’s wider Asia-Pacific network, including destinations in Australia, Japan, South Korea, China and beyond.
 
Speaking at the event, Vietjet First Vice Chairman Dinh Viet Phuong stated that the new route would open a fresh air bridge between the two nations, enhancing trade, investment, tourism, and cultural exchange across South Asia and the Asia-Pacific region.
 
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s largest economic center, remains one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing tourism and business destinations, attracting visitors with its vibrant culture, modern cityscape, historic landmarks and renowned culinary scene.
 
Vietjet currently operates a fleet of 135 aircraft and has nearly 600 additional aircraft on order as part of its international expansion strategy. The airline has also received several global recognitions from aviation organizations including Skytrax, CAPA and AirlineRatings.
