Private jet arrivals to the Maldives rose sharply in March, increasing by 138% from the usual monthly average of around 80 movements to nearly 190, according to Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen.
The surge is linked to ongoing instability and airspace disruptions in the Middle East, a key transit region for long-haul travel. With commercial flight schedules affected and route restrictions in place, many high-end travellers have opted for private jet travel, boosting premium aviation traffic to the island nation.
