First Qantas ‘Project Sunrise’ Airbus A350-1000 rolls off final assembly line in Toulouse

Australia’s flagship carrier Qantas is advancing its landmark “Project Sunrise” initiative, which will see the introduction of specially configured Airbus A350-1000 aircraft to operate some of the world’s longest non-stop commercial flights.

The project aims to connect cities such as Sydney with London and New York directly, significantly reducing overall travel time by eliminating intermediate stops. The ultra-long-haul aircraft will feature additional fuel capacity along with a redesigned cabin focused on passenger comfort, including dedicated wellness spaces to support travelers on flights exceeding 20 hours.

The first A350-1000 aircraft under Project Sunrise is expected to be delivered in 2026, with commercial operations anticipated to commence in 2027. Once launched, the initiative is set to redefine long-haul travel and position Qantas at the forefront of next-generation ultra-long-range operations.
