Development work at Palaly International Airport is moving forward following an inspection by Ports and Civil Aviation Minister Anura Karunathilaka, Deputy Minister Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakku, Northern Provincial Governor Nagalingam Wethanayagan, and other aviation officials.
Authorities discussed addressing current infrastructure gaps and accelerating a two-phase development plan. While the first phase is already underway, the second phase is set to begin in June, aiming to fully upgrade the airport’s facilities.
Officials also confirmed that steps are being taken to increase aviation-sector employment opportunities for Northern Province residents.
