According to the Government Official News Portal, France has expressed its willingness to further support the development of Sri Lanka’s aviation sector.
During a discussion with Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation Minister Anura Karunathilaka and Deputy Minister Janitha Ruwan Kodituwakku, French Ambassador Rémi Lambert highlighted Sri Lanka’s strategic importance as an aviation hub in the Indian Ocean region.
The Ambassador stated that French companies are ready to provide technical assistance in areas such as radar systems, air traffic control management, and signaling technology. He also noted that radar and e-gate facilities have already been provided.
Discussions also covered SriLankan Airlines and the development of Mattala Int’l Airport, with potential investment opportunities involving Airbus being considered.
The meeting reaffirmed France’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Sri Lanka in the aviation sector.
