A group of 250 Japanese tourists was warmly welcomed to Sri Lanka during a special reception held at Bandaranaike International Airport on 30 August 2026, marking the first arrival of a group of this size from Japan.
The event, attended by Deputy Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakku, featured a traditional Kandyan dance performance organised by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau. The visitors also received Ceylon Tea gift packs sponsored by the Sri Lanka Tea Board.
The initiative is expected to further strengthen tourism ties between Sri Lanka and Japan while showcasing Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage and hospitality to international visitors.
