Sri Lanka welcomed 145,745 international tourists in May 2026, recording the highest number of tourist arrivals ever registered for the month of May.
The figure surpasses the previous May record of 112,128 arrivals recorded in 2018 and also marks a notable increase compared to 132,919 arrivals in May 2025.
India, the United Kingdom, China, Germany and Australia remained the leading source markets, highlighting continued regional demand and growing global confidence in Sri Lanka as a year-round travel destination.
