Vietnam Airlines has officially announced the launch of its first-ever direct air connection between Vietnam and Sri Lanka, further strengthening tourism, trade, and business ties between the two countries.
The announcement was made during the Sri Lanka – Vietnam Trade, Investment and Tourism Cooperation Forum held in Colombo on 8 May 2026. The new route between Ho Chi Minh City and Colombo is scheduled to commence operations in October 2026 with three weekly round-trip flights operated by Airbus A321 aircraft.
Flights departing from Ho Chi Minh City will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, while return services from Colombo will be available on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
