VietJet’s Upcoming Colombo Service Highlighted at Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Event in Ho Chi Minh City

A tourism promotion event aimed at boosting travel between Sri Lanka and Viet Nam was successfully held in Ho Chi Minh City on 8 June 2026, bringing together travel industry leaders, airlines, and tourism stakeholders from both countries.

Organized by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Viet Nam in collaboration with VJSC Co., Ltd., the event showcased Sri Lanka’s tourism attractions and growing opportunities for Vietnamese travelers. More than 60 leading travel companies from Ho Chi Minh City participated in the programme.

A key aviation highlight of the event was the presentation by VietJet Air on its upcoming direct Ho Chi Minh City–Colombo service, scheduled to commence on 18 August 2026. Representatives outlined the airline’s plans for the new route, which is expected to enhance connectivity and support growing tourism and business exchanges between the two countries. Vietnam Airlines is also expected to launch direct flights on the sector later this year.

The event featured presentations on Sri Lanka’s tourism offerings, discussions on travel trends, and networking opportunities between tourism stakeholders. Sri Lankan travel industry representatives also attended to promote destination products tailored for the Vietnamese market.

The initiative underscores ongoing efforts to strengthen tourism cooperation between Sri Lanka and Viet Nam, with new direct air links expected to play a significant role in increasing visitor arrivals and fostering closer people-to-people connections. (Sri Lanka Embassy in Viet Nam)
