Turkish Airlines CEO Reaffirms Commitment to Expand Sri Lanka Connectivity

Turkish Airlines has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening air connectivity with Sri Lanka following a meeting between the airline’s Chief Executive Officer, Ahmet Olmuştur and Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Türkiye, Niluka Kadurugamuwa, at the carrier’s headquarters in Istanbul on 17 June 2026.

During the discussions, the two sides explored opportunities to boost tourism, trade, air cargo and aviation cooperation between Sri Lanka and Türkiye. Particular focus was placed on attracting more international visitors to Sri Lanka through Turkish Airlines’ extensive global network, including potential joint destination marketing campaigns and promotional initiatives with Sri Lankan tourism authorities.

The meeting also reviewed prospects for increasing passenger flight frequencies on the Istanbul-Colombo route, expanding cargo capacity to support growing bilateral trade and enhancing collaboration with Sri Lanka’s aviation sector.

Turkish Airlines was commended for maintaining uninterrupted services to Colombo during recent Middle East-related disruptions, ensuring continued connectivity between Sri Lanka and destinations across Europe, North America and other global markets.

CEO Ahmet Olmuştur and senior airline officials reaffirmed Turkish Airlines’ commitment to further strengthening connectivity with Sri Lanka, including plans to increase frequencies as new aircraft join the airline’s expanding fleet, while continuing to support tourism, trade and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
