Sri Lanka is set for a strong boost in international air connectivity this August, with Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air and Jetstar scheduled to commence services to Colombo, providing a positive start to the upcoming winter travel season.
Up to 6 July 2026, Sri Lanka had welcomed nearly 1.4 million international tourists, highlighting the continued recovery and growing demand for travel to the country.
Vietnam Airlines is scheduled to launch its Ho Chi Minh City-Colombo service on 16 August 2026, followed by VietJet Air on 18 August 2026. Meanwhile, Jetstar will launch its first-ever Melbourne-Colombo service on 25 August 2026, creating a new direct link between Sri Lanka and Australia.
Deputy Minister of Civil Aviation Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakku said the arrival of these new carriers will further strengthen Sri Lanka’s international connectivity at a crucial time for the tourism and aviation sectors.
The new services are expected to increase seat capacity, provide more travel options and strengthen tourism, business and people-to-people links with Vietnam and Australia, while supporting Sri Lanka’s aviation growth ahead of the winter season.
