SriLankan Airlines pays $900,000 monthly for unused aircraft

Deputy Minister of Finance Harshana Suriyapperuma revealed in Parliament that SriLankan Airlines is paying $900,000 per month for three unutilized aircraft.

The national carrier currently owns a total of 22 aircraft and employs 3,194 staff members in its core airline operations, with an additional 2,862 employees working in its strategic business units.

He also shared that the Ministry has introduced a five-year plan starting in 2025 to revitalize the airline.
