Sri Lanka’s main international airport Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) will welcome approximately 10 million passengers by the end of this year, the President’s Media Division said in a statement on Wednesday.
By March 19 this year, 850,000 air passengers utilized BIA services, the statement quoted Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd. Athula Galkatiya as saying.
The total number of passengers that used the BIA in 2022 was 5 million, and it increased to around 8 million in 2023, it said.
According to official data, about 11 million passengers used the BIA in 2018.
