Sri Lanka’s aviation sector recorded strong growth in 2025, with significant gains reported from January to November, the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation said.
International passenger movements reached 9.23 million, reflecting a 15.2% year-on-year increase, while international aircraft movements rose by 14.64% to 58,454. Tourist arrivals by air also grew strongly, with around 2.1 million visitors, marking a 16.73% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Officials attribute the growth to renewed focus and reforms under the new government, alongside the collective efforts of aviation sector management and employees, signalling a steady revival of Sri Lanka’s aviation industry.
