Sri Lanka’s April tourism revenue rise 52-pct, 225.7 million dollars

Sri Lanka’s foreign exchange revenue from tourism rose to 225.7 million dollars in April 224, a 52 percent jump from last year, the central bank said quoting tourism promotion authorities.

Sri Lanka’s tourist arrivals went up 78 percent to 784,651 persons in the first four months of 2024.

April arrivals were up 41 percent to 148,867.

Tourism earnings in April were estimated at 225.7 million dollars, up from 148.2 million dollars a year ago.

The tourism has helped the island nation to see an inflow of 1,251.6 million dollars in the first four months of the year, 92 percent higher than the same period in 2023.

The tourism earnings figure is estimated from a survey conducted by Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority. (Economy Next)
