A group of prominent Sri Lankan tour operators recently embarked on a 10-day cultural immersion tour of China, organized by Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China in collabartion with Air China Colombo unique journey allowed participants to experience the diverse and rich cultural heritage of China firsthand.
The tour kicked off in Chengdu, widely celebrated for its vibrant culinary scene and as the home of the giant panda. From there, the group explored Changsha, known as ‘The Star City’ for its dynamic historical significance and modern economic growth. The journey continued to Hengyang, a city that boasts breathtaking landscapes and a wealth of historical sites, before culminating in Wuhan, where ancient traditions seamlessly blend with rapid modern development.
This initiative by Air China highlights the growing interest in fostering stronger ties between Sri Lanka and China through cultural exchange and tourism. The tour provided Sri Lankan operators with a deeper understanding of China’s multifaceted tourism offerings, which they can now share with prospective travelers back home.
Participants expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to explore these remarkable destinations and are optimistic about the potential for increased travel between the two nations.
