Sri Lanka continues to rise as a favored destination for Dutch tourists, welcoming 42,836 visitors from the Netherlands between January and October 2024.
To further promote Sri Lanka as an ideal holiday destination, a group of Dutch travel agents from prominent agencies, including The Travel Club, Pelikaan Reizen Breda, Pearlcard, Kuper Reisinfo, and ReisExpert, arrived in Sri Lanka on November 28 for a week-long familiarization (FAM) tour. The tour, led by Avila Reizen, aims to showcase Sri Lanka’s unique attractions and luxury offerings.
Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, Ms. Rekha Gunasekera, held a productive meeting with Ms. Hilda van der Wel-Gonzalez, Founder and Director of Avila Reizen and organizer of the FAM tour. The group received a warm welcome from the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) upon their arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), marking a significant step in strengthening Sri Lanka’s presence in the Dutch travel market.
