Sri Lanka Tourism Hits 1.5 Million Arrivals in 2024

Sri Lanka Tourism has reached a major milestone in 2024, surpassing 1.5 million tourist arrivals. In the first week of October alone, the country welcomed over 20,000 visitors, marking a positive start to the final quarter of the year.

This achievement is especially significant as it represents the highest number of tourist arrivals recorded in the last five years, following the Easter Sunday attacks in 2019. Sri Lanka’s record of 2.33 million tourists, set in 2018, remains the highest in the country’s history, but the current trajectory suggests a promising recovery for the tourism sector.
