The Government is focusing on issuing free visas for citizens of 67 countries with the aim of bringing more foreign tourists to Sri Lanka, termed as a leading travel destination by a number of rating agencies.
Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau Chairman Chalaka Gajabahu said that the proposal in this regard will be submitted to the Cabinet this week.
“We are offering free visas to visitors from seven countries including India, China, Russia, Japan and Thailand. We have suggested that this number be increased to 67. I think it will go as a proposal to the Cabinet this week,” he added.
