Sri Lanka nears one million tourist arrivals in 2025

The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has announced that foreign tourist arrivals in the country are nearing the one million mark for 2025.
According to the latest data, over 970,000 international visitors have arrived in Sri Lanka so far this year. Notably, during the first 17 days of May 2025 alone, more than 70,000 foreign tourists entered the country.
India continues to lead as the top source market for arrivals, followed by Germany, the United Kingdom, and China, which remain among the strongest contributors to Sri Lanka’s tourism sector.
While a seasonal decline was observed following the end of the winter travel period, the SLTDA expects a steady increase in tourist arrivals in the coming months of 2025. Projections indicate higher numbers compared to the same period in both 2023 and 2024.
