Sri Lanka and Egypt have held high-level discussions to strengthen cooperation in the aviation, ports, and transport sectors during a meeting between Egyptian Ambassador Ahmed Ali Elshahat, Minister of Ports, Civil Aviation and Energy Anura Karunathilaka, Deputy Minister Janitha Ruwan Kodituwakku and Ministry Secretary W.W.S. Mangala.
Among the key topics was Air Cairo’s proposal to launch regular passenger and cargo flights to Sri Lanka, with the Minister confirming that the Civil Aviation Authority will expedite the required evaluation process. Both sides also discussed maritime connectivity through the Suez Canal, trade cooperation and agreed to work closely to further enhance bilateral relations in aviation, ports and commerce.
