Sri Lanka’s Cabinet has approved a contract to China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Company Limited to develop an aviation fuel storage complex and dedicated pipeline connecting Muthurajawela with Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake.
The project is valued at US$40.84 million plus LKR 8,548.75 million, inclusive of applicable taxes, Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said.
The project includes a 92,000-cubic-metre aviation fuel storage complex and a dedicated pipeline to the aircraft refuelling terminal at BIA, aimed at ensuring a secure and uninterrupted supply of jet fuel.
“Bids were invited following the international competitive bidding procedure, and three bids were submitted,” Jayatissa said.
