Sri Lanka Airport Managers Attend Capacity Enhancement Programme in India

A delegation of 10 Airport Managers from Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (AASL) successfully completed a specialized capacity enhancement programme at the Indian Aviation Academy (IAA) in New Delhi, India, held from 9 to 20 March 2026.

The comprehensive programme covered key areas of the aviation sector, including terminal operations, passenger terminal planning and management, airport planning, airside management strategies, air traffic management, passenger facilitation, aviation safety and security, aircraft recovery and equipment, as well as crisis management and business continuity planning.

The initiative was conducted under India’s enhanced capacity-building framework, which aims to train 1,000 Sri Lankan civil service officers and professionals annually, further strengthening bilateral cooperation in the aviation sector.

Complementing this initiative, nearly 300 Sri Lankan civil servants are undergoing training each year under a Memorandum of Understanding between the National Centre for Good Governance of India and the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration, signed during the State visit of President Anura Kumara Disanayaka to India in December 2024.
